A review of Treehouse Hotel, London

In December last year, I was recovered enough from my operation to treat myself. I was feeling a bit down and needed some festive cheer so decided to go to London and see the Christmas lights (post HERE). I then thought, oh why not make a night of it? So I wanted to find a nice hotel near the main shopping area of London where a lot of the lights are. And so I found the Treehouse Hotel, which only opened in November 2019.

The Treehouse Hotel sits to the north of the River Thames, close to the main shopping area of the city with easy access to Regent Street and Oxford Street. It’s also within walking distance to The British Museum, The Sherlock Holmes Museum, Regent’s Park and Hyde Park. I think it’s the perfect location for a second (or more) visit to England’s capital city because it enables easy access to some famous but lesser visited sites.

The Hotel is also close to The British Museum

It is a 30 minute walk to the main tourist area including Buckingham Palace, and over an hour to the Tower of London, so if you’re on a first trip to the capital and looking for the most famous sites, then somewhere like Sea Containers (post coming soon), may be a better pick.

The accommodation at Treehouse Hotel is incredible. I treated myself to a Treehouse Suite, which had some absolutely beautiful views out across the London skyline. Its highlight was definitely the huge soaking bathtub looking out of the huge window – it was pure bliss.

View from my room
The incredible bath

The room itself was also special beyond the bath as all the rooms are designed with a focus on sustainability – for example there is no plastic at all in the rooms. There is a water fountain on each floor and you fill up a glass bottle provided to get your drinking water. The design is also based on a central American treehouse theme, with local products used where ever possible.

There are 4 places to get food and drink in the hotel. At the entrance to the hotel is a coffee shop and breakfast stop called Backyard. It serves a selection of teas and coffee, plus fruit, croissants, yoghurt and other nice treats. Another lovely touch is that guests are encouraged to swap their pre-loved books with a selection on show in Backyard, and guests will find a pre-loved book in their room when checking in!

The main restaurant is called Madera and serves Mexican food, including a mean Brunch served on Sundays. There is then also Pizzeria Mozza if you fancy a pizza, and a rooftop bar called The Nest serving high end cocktails and drinks. All the food and drink I had in the hotel was lovely.

Another unique use for the restaurants is for fitness – Treehouse have partnered with FRAME, a fitness company who provide personal training sessions in your room, on The Nest terrace or even in Regent’s Park nearby. I didn’t do this, but thought it was a unique thing to offer!

So what do you think of the Treehouse Hotel? Would you choose it for a stay in London? I found it quite a unique stay and love the sustainability aspect which I’ve never really seen done so well in other hotels. It was the perfect pick me up treat I needed to finish the year on a positive note after a not so great time. Thanks for reading – stay safe and happy travelling!

  4. You found a great hotel, Hannah. I love the theme. It is so different for London. The hotel opened at a tough time. It is good it survived. Your suite is a lot nicer than any tree house I’ve seen.😃 Take care! John

    1. I agree, it felt really different for London and I was really glad to support it, especially given it opened only a few months before the pandemic and must really have struggled. Thank you so much for reading – have a great day! 🙂

  5. I must stay here the next time I’m in London! Crazy to believe that it opened in November 2019, just months away before the pandemic hit! It’s remarkable that it’s still opened, given just how badly tourism has been affected since then…I’ll definitely need to get a room with the skyline view!

  6. A delightful property Han, we may keep this one behind our ear for when we eventually get to London. We are suckers for a vintage, well-placed bath and the breakfast, Eggs Benedecit right?

    1. Yes it’s definitely worth a stay, I really liked it and thought it was quite unique for London. Eggs Florentine actually as it had spinach too, but you were very close – the skyline view and delicious breakfast was the perfect start to the day! Thanks for reading 🙂

  7. The Treehouse Hotel looks like a wonderful place to stay. I love the huge soaking tub in your room and how it overlooks the city. I’m a huge fan that the hotel doesn’t have any plastics and instead uses more environmental friendly methods like a glass bottle and water fountain. The Nest also looks very warm and inviting.

  11. Wow, what a unique place to stay at, Hannah! The great views of London alone are worth an overnight stay, it must have been very pretty once the sun went down and the city lit up. I am glad to hear you had a wonderful time and I am glad to know that there are hotels that go to great lengths to maximise their green credentials you can relax on your holiday safe in the knowledge that you’re not doing harm to the planet. Take care 🙂 Aiva xx

  12. That looks great – I would definitely stay there. Is it noisy at night? I look forward to reading your post about the Sea Containers. When we were in London a few weeks ago we stayed where we’ve stayed many times – the Mad Hatter, which is about a block from the Sea Containers. That is a FABULOUS area of London to stay in.

    1. It wasn’t noisy at all, it’s actually on a really quiet road and I didn’t really hear anything apart from the odd siren. Sea Containers was a super special hotel as well, there are just so many great options in London. Ohh I’ve never stayed at The Mad Hatter but have always wanted to; perhaps next time I’m down 🙂 Thanks so much for reading, have a great week.
