Comment on Brännö Island: A day exploring the Gothenburg Archipelago by Juliette/2024/09/04/branno-island-a-day-exploring-the-gothenburg-archipelago/comment-page-1/#comment-9710Fri, 13 Sep 2024 05:57:21 +0000/?p=24777#comment-9710What a stunning place! And even more so that you had it almost completely to yourself! I remember your Instagram stories of that day, and from the pictures you post here it did seem like an amazing day, and a perfect place for a solo day trip too! I’ve added Gothenburg and its archipelago to my list now!

With the word arboretum, I was expecting a botanical garden but for trees. It’s nice to see the wide variety of people and things that have been memorialized here. I can see why this was such a moving place to visit.

It really is Meg, you’ve described it perfectly. They do a great job of making it personal – every story I read had an impact with the individual’s sacrifice, sadness, braveness and everything in between. Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to read and comment.

They have done such a lovely job of the site – really poignant and important memorials, devastating stories, but at the same time beautiful gardens, trails for kids and activities on. It was a lovely balance. The still and unborn babies for sure made me cry.

The Shot at Dawn memorial was so sad. Both my Mum and I just wanted to hug all the posts as if they were people, those poor boys. I can’t imagine the traumas of the war, and it’s so important to have a special place to remember those that sacrificed so much.

Absolutely, it’s such a moving place and I’m glad that the UK has somewhere to commemorate and remember all the sacrifices that have come before us.
