A Review of Art’Otel, Battersea

London is an incredible city, with so many areas to explore, all full of multiple hotel choices and options. On a recent stay I explored the amazing Battersea Power Station, now renovated to be a destination for shopping, dining and activities. One of its newest additions is Art’Otel, a brand new hotel right opposite the south entrance to the Power Station.

Art’Otel is the destination hotel for Battersea Power Station, recently re-opened after decades empty. Once providing 20% of London’s power via coal fuelled production, the Power Station has now been converted in to a shopping centre, dining area and much more, whilst retaining many original features.

The accommodation at Art’Otel is super modern and comfortable. Having only been recently opened, everything is pristine. The premise of Art’Otels is that they focus on design so the room and decor was bright, quirky and fun.

Our lovely and comfortable bed

There was also a nice big shower which had great water pressure, a minibar, safe and good amenities. One of the things I liked most was the touch pad panels on both bedside tables. It enabled you to control the aircon, turn off lights or adjust the curtains from the comfort of the bed – lovely!

The sitting area

The hotel has numerous food and drink options. On the ground floor is Tozi, a lovely Italian café which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as having a bar for drinks only, and an outside area for nice days.

On check in we were provided with a voucher for 2 free alcoholic drinks in the bar, covering Prosecco, wine or beer. I had a glass of Prosecco and my husband ordered a beer – only to be told 15 minutes later there was no beer (!?) so he had to have a coke instead. The bar was nice with a good atmosphere.

Inside the restaurant

In addition to Tozi, there is a more formal restaurant on site called JOIA, which serves Portuguese and Iberian cuisine in a unique setting with a lovely view of the skyline overlooking Battersea Power Station and beyond. We didn’t eat here but popped our head in and it looked lovely.

Inside JOIA

The staff at Art’Otel were really lovely. On check in, we were given lots of details and information about the hotel and its offerings. In the restaurant, the manager on duty was great and attentive, and I was impressed with the service overall.

Reception area

In terms of amenities, there’s only one that I can focus on because it’s really so amazing – a beautifully heated rooftop bar and pool (including jacuzzi) with a view to Battersea Power Station. Open from 7am – 10pm, I can honestly say relaxing in it at the end of the day and having it completely to ourselves other than a bottle of Prosecco was so special.

The rooftop pool

On the hotel’s ground floor, it offers a number of ‘creative rooms’ which host art exhibitions and creative spaces for people to use. I am far from creative, but I can see the rooms would be fun – I had a peep in to one which was open for people to create their own hoodie designs. It’s quite a unique thing for a hotel to offer, though I do wonder how many people actually use them!

So what do you think of Art’Otel Battersea? We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it for a night or two in the area. Thanks so much for reading – stay safe and happy travelling!

  1. Art’Otel Battersea has a unique vibe, a blend of industrial yet swanky, as the former power station has been repurposed for a nice stay in London. Thanks for the lovely hotel review of this place; I just might have to stay in it the next time I’m in town!

    1. It was really cool, and the rooftop pool was definitely the highlight. I can’t imagine loads of people do, but apparently they host community events and things in there 🙂

  5. What a fantastic idea to reuse this old power station! Much better than letting it go to ruin. Looks like they’ve done a great job of it.

  10. Okay well first of all, I need one of those touch panel things in my house. I hate having to get out of bed to go turn off a switch.
