My son and I traveled to Costa Rica when he was in 4th grade (a class trip) and it was, in many ways, the trip of a lifetime. My favorite memory is of watching leatherback turtles crawl out of the ocean, onto the beach, at midnight beneath a sky full of stars. As the students watched this magnificent, huge creature lay her eggs, I looked up and saw the Southern Cross constellation. I hope I never forget that memory. That, and the tiny geckos crawling around the ceiling of our lodge :)!
Wonderful post. Thank you!

When I was there years ago with my son, the entrance went through a river that, in high tide, you had to wade across, carrying your pack over your head, or take a boat (you paid the boatman). I have heard they since changed the entry.!
