I think that crowds really are a major drawback for this city, but it so generously makes up for it with the architecture, food and art. I would make sure to have a wander around Poblenou Cemetery next time which I failed to do on my only trip to Barcelona many years ago. Great work Hannah.

I think my architecture loving heart might burst with joy here- the buildings are so detailed, so colorful, and so unexpected. I can see though why it’s not somewhere that you would immediately fall in love with. It’s hard to fall in love with a city when you have to contend with tourists and time slots.

I love Barcelona, but it is unfortunate that it’s so overcrowded with tourists. I agree with you about Sagrada Familia; it is absolutely stunning.

Surprisingly, I have never been to Barcelona, even though I have been to Spain at least 5-6 times, and it’s been on my list of European cities for a long time! I hope I’ll soon get to visit this beautiful city and I’ll undoubtedly use this great itinerary! Thanks for sharing!

And the cathedral? Wow! That’s unbelievably ornate. That’s crazy to me that it’s still under construction after 100+ years.

Okay, well now I just can’t even possibly pick a favorite to comment on. There’s so much beautiful architecture. Thanks for this tour of Barcelona! It’s not a place that’s really on my radar or high on my list, but perhaps it should be. Thanks for deciphering the public transit for us. It sounds stressful and confusing.

Then, COVID ruined the trip that had Barcelona in it, and when we revived it, we took the Spain portion out (it was our France/Andorra trip of 2023). It certainly has some not only beautiful, but very unique, sights. The recent news of locals spraying water guns at tourists gives me pause, but maybe going in the off season (if there is one) is the answer…

We missed out on the Hospital de Sant Pau. It looks quite lovely. It sucks that you had to wait so long to enter Sagrada Familia. We booked tickets for the first time slot of the day. It was an early start, but so worth it to walk through the cathedral without having to elbow our way through a sea of people.

I haven’t seen many pictures from the Catalan museum before so now it’s going on the list too. I know what you mean about not falling in love with it and being over run with tourists. We felt that about Granada and a little with Lisbon too and they’re not nearly as busy as Barcelona. Maggie
